Flexible Lines

From either-or investments towards as-well-as solutions

Process variety is one of the strengths of Trützschler Nonwovens. Since 1996 this applies for instance to the AquaJet spunlacing unit. And since a decade the company offers not only one but several technical solutions for fiber preparation, web forming, web bonding, finishing, drying and winding.

Now Trützschler Nonwovens goes a step further in offering flexible production lines.

A combined spunlacing line for cotton pads and wipes

3 cards are needed to produce either cotton pads – 3-layer nonwovens with a structured surface – or single layer structured or perforated wipes. If the random, the airlay and the second random card are active, the results are cotton pads or multi-layer wipes. Omitting the second random card and/or the airlay card results in high-quality wipe material. The specially equipped AquaJet hydroentangles both cotton pads and wipes.

A flexible thermo- and chemical bonding line
This sophisticated line layout has an extended drying and curing zone including a can and a drum dryer as well as a hot flue. It allows thermo- as well as binder bonding of light-weight webs.
In the thermobonding process, the web directly enters the drum dryer after carding and then directly goes to the winder.
For chemical bonding firstly liquid binder is applied onto the web. Then it passes through the dryers and the curing zone before being wound up.

Wet-in-Wet Processes

Wet laid and spunlaced nonwovens

For the production of wet-laid nonwovens, Trützschler Nonwovens teams up with Voith Paper, the pioneer in and leading partner to the paper industry.

The wet-laying process for webs is similar to the production process for paper: A fiber-water suspension is filtered onto a perforated belt on which the single fibers form a homogeneous web. Bonding with the Fleissner AquaJet allows the production of perfectly bonded and, if required, structured or perforated webs.

The first Voith-Trützschler lines went into operation in 2016. They are primarily designed for the production of flushable wipes; in water, these wipes disintegrate into single fibres and can thus be flushed down the toilet after use.

Energy-efficient Compaction

Approximately 10% less energy consumption in spunlacing

Trützschler Nonwovens developed belt-strip compaction, a new, energy-efficient compaction system for the AquaJet. It can be used for processing standard materials up to 100 gms.
With belt-strip compaction the rolls and compaction belt used with both belt-belt and belt-drum compaction are no longer needed, so the number of drives is reduced. However, more importantly, the jet head needed for wetting and pre-entangling is no longer needed which both reduces energy and water consumption.
The system is still being extensively tested concerning its potential for a broader range of web weights and line speeds.

Modular AquaJet

Proven technology for all requirements

With the upgraded AquaJet, Trützschler Nonwovens is providing a modular system that can be specifically adapted to different products and materials. Depending on product and process, the suitable compacting system can be selected from 3 types and the most efficient suction from 4 configurations.

Individual, efficient and flexible – in addition to the freely selectable combination of the modules, the AquaJet system is easy to retrofit and upgrade.

High-Speed Foulard

Fast processes in chemical bonding

Applying binders to the web often is a limitating factor for a chemical bonding’s line speed. The web has to be saturated homogeneously with the binding agent – which increases the risk that the web sticks to machine components.

Trützschler Nonwovens’ new liquid foulard improve this process step. Compared to conventional technologies, it increases the line speed during the production of light-weight webs by up to 50%.

Various optimizations on rolls (patent pending) and other sub-components make it possible: the liquid binder is absorbed by the roller and passed on to the web in a much more homogeneous way.
